Studies of Svalbard on seal skins

2024-Ongoing

Glazed ceramic, varying sizes (13x11x2 inches – 3x2x1 inches)

Studies of Svalbard: sea ice and scurvy grass, seal bones and the northern lights, pods of midsummer beluga whales and mounds of tundra wildflowers. Seal skins are a common motif in the Arctic and also provide a broad surface on which I can be playful, experimental, and spontaneous, exploring many aspects of the northern world.
