Lilliehöökbreen: How to make a glacier disappear

Digital collage

Day three of The Arctic Circle autumn expedition. Having sailed north through the night, on October 6 we woke up in Lillihöökfjord, a fjord that’s expanding as the glacier, Lilliehöökbreen, melts due to climate change. We cruised through the icebergs on our zodiac boats, and along the calving front of the 22km/13.6 miles long glacier. Where we anchored and where we cruised through the enchanting ice, should all be frozen in the glacier. So should the small and very small islands we landed on the afternoon, when the weather turned snowy and windy.
