Hvaldimir’s Dream: Beluga Whale and the Summer Solstice Megapod Party

2024, Glazed ceramic, 5x14x7 inches

Each year, beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) migrate to the shallow waters of the Arctic in a type of summer solstice ritual. Traveling in groups of thousands, multiple pods come together in the midnight sun to feast in the nutrient rich waters, molt, and give birth.
