tidepool paper
cattail seed and bamboo leaf fibers with found marine inclusions
6 x 8 inches (each)

During low tide in Carlsbad, California tidepools provided the perfect opprtunity to make sheets of handmade paper. Using cattail seeds, bamboo leaves, seaweed, sand, shells, and sea water, drained sheets were pressed onto the moist sand to dry until sunset. As the temperature dropped, my papermaking crew and I packed up the paper to continue drying indoors. Many thanks to Elizabeth Puckett, Erin Bartleson, and Colin Whitbread, for their help and creative ingenuity.
