Harmful Algal Blooms
cotton, linen, flax, pigments,
zinc sulfide
30 x 22 inches each, 2010
Pigmented cotton, linen, and flax pulp are combined in compositions mimicking harmful algal blooms. The final works are large and vibrant works made solely of paper. Some use phosphorescent pigment (zinc sulfide) to mimic the bioluminescent dinoflagellates found in some algal blooms.
